Arms smuggler held

Imphal, August 31 2015:
Based on specific intelligence regarding carrying of warlike stores, troops of the 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended two arms smugglers including a woman at Khudengthabi check post on Aug 30, according to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S) .
The apprehendees were identified as Ngamson Mate (37) S/o Jilkhothang Mate of Tengnoupal and Kimkhoneng (40) w/o Chandraman of Pallel.
The suspicious scooter moving from Moreh to Pallel was stopped for checking, and on a thorough search of the Scooter one empty magazine of 9mm Pistol (Glock- Made in Austria) and one silencer for pistol, which were concealed in the engine compartment, were recovered.
The apprehendees along with the recovered items were handed over to the Moreh Police Station.
In another operation, 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Bongyang and apprehended two smugglers including a woman carrying contraband items on Aug 30 .
The apprehendees were identified as Robert Singh (27) S/o Chaoba Singh of Thingom Leikai, Imphal and Rebika Devi, (35) w/o Sh Ajit Singh of Singjamei, Imphal.
250 packets of Shajan tobacco was recovered from their possession.
The apprehendees along with the recovered items were handed over to the Food Safety Officer, Chandel, the PRO said.
