SURE organises seminar in Purul

The Society for Upliftment of Rural Enterprise (SURE) under the sponsorship of Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong, Imphal organised a one day training cum seminar on lack of development in rural areas today at PST park, Purul Atongba village, Senapati district.
The president of SURE, in his keynote address said that the program will enhance the general public on the related issue of of the rural areas development.
EE, PHED, Senapati division, N Bipin Singh spoke as a resource person on the importance of sanitation, to keep the surrounding clean and healthy, especially by providing a sewage system and a clean water supply.
He stressed on the need to maintain a proper sanitation to prevent from various diseases.
The implementation of the central rural sanitation program could not be successfully held due to lack of information, education and communication.
The GoM has taken up total sanitation campaign in rural areas to construct a proper sanitary toilets at an estimated amount of Rs.6, 000 (Rs.5, 100 sanctioned from central Government and State Government and with Rs 900 from self by every household, irrespective of BPL/APL families to maintain a clean atmosphere).
This knowledge should be taught to the school going children and schools and colleges should be the centre-point to start imparting the importance of such campaign.
He even pointed out the need for the management of solid waste, to maintain garbage, home-food sanitation and community sanitation to live in an ecologically safe area.
H Ibohal Chothe, EE, PWD, Senapati Division, said that the development of construction of roads needs availability of fund, law and order and dishonest corruption.
9% out of 10 are covered by hills in rural areas, where road is the only means of transportation.
Roads in the hill areas could not improve is due to the authority concerned and politicians who cannot understand the adversities people face everyday since they travel by air, he alleged.
Lack of resources, lack of proper manpower are some of the factors that contribute to the deploring condition of road and other developmental projects.
Jr scientist officer, Directorate of Environment, Government of Manipur, Th Bhogen spoke on environment and its issues and stated that sufficient water and oxygen comes from abundance of forest and its preservation.
He also urged the public to preserve forest for a better environment.
Principal, Rosary high school, Purul, Fr Thaikho Simon asserted that education alone can make an individual gain the knowledge of right from the wrong and how it teaches the importance of environment in the lives of human beings.
Officials from Tribal Research Institute, Imphal, said that having a total strength of 18 staffs members, Tribal Research Institute, Imphal, have been conducting seminars, training and workshops in the hill areas with aim to provide education on the importance of development in today's society.
The officers also assured possible help in the future for the development of the region.
