Lamka, August 31 2011:
A consultation meet for the Church leaders on contemporary issues, electoral politics in particular, was held today at Synod hall here with numerous Church leaders deliberating on the Christian leaders' perspective on election.
The meet was convened by AMCO with an objective of attaining truth and justice, love and peace, equality and holistic development through people empowerment.
"Christians should stand firm for truth, even unto death", a speaker said adding that Church leaders should do their bit to eradicate the vices of electoral politics.
Some speakers also made mention of the open-secret, of the cultivation of opium and ganja in the hills with the contention that the church has to pull-up its sleeves to stop these immoral and illegal activities.
"We do need to maintain some of these issues affecting us or our society in our preaching and sermons", said another who claimed there was still a long road ahead to sensitise the people of their rights and responsibilities; of fair poll and about choosing the right candidates.
