Grenade attack at Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai residence

Imphal, June 30 2011: Some unidentified persons lobbed a hand grenade at the private residence of a businessmen at Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai at around 1am today.

The hand grenade which landed inside the residential compound of Longjam Jibankumar, however, failed to go off.

The grenade which did not have detonator was retrieved by police, informed a police source.

Meanwhile, local people of Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi staged a protest demonstration against the grenade attack of June 29 night at the residence of CADA EE Thokchom Kesho.

Another hand grenade hurled by some unidentified persons exploded at the residential compound of Kesho on June 21 .

In both the cases of grenade attacks, there was no report of any casualty.

The Youth Rising Star Club, Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi, of which Thokchom Kesho is an advisor, has appealed to all concerned not to repeat such acts of violence and threats any more.

They also appealed to the assailants to identify themselves and explain the reason behind the grenade attacks.
