CME on 'Common Neonatal Problems' held

Continuing Medical Education (CME) on 'Common Neonatal Problems-A Revisit' was held today at Mother's Care Children Hospital and Research Centre (MCCHRC), Sagolband Moirang Leirak Imphal organized by National Neonatology Forum (NNF), Manipur State Branch.
Pediatrics and PG students attended the CME where Asst Prof Dept of Pediatrics, JNIMS, Dr Y Rameshwor spoke on 'Neonatal Jaundice' and Pediatrician, MHS Dr Laishram Cindy spoke on 'Neonatal Sepsis' .
The CME was chaired by Senior Pediatrician and President, NNF Dr Th Nabachandra and Managing Director, MCCHRC Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh.
MCCHRC also announced the opening of night emergency service and Cardiac OPD consultation.
Pediatric surgery unit is also taken forward in the hospital with specialist pediatric surgeons joining the institute, according to officials of the hospital.

MCCHRC now has an in-house pediatric surgeon Dr Toijam Soni Lyngdoh along with Dr Enonu Yhoshu who has joined the hospital as pediatric surgeon.
MCCHRC at present offers 18 bedded NICU and 9 bedded PICU, making it one of the most significant entities in the domain of child health care.
MCCHRC thrives to reduce infant mortality rate in the region and its neighbours by providing optimum care to new-born at birth and consistently providing intensive neonatal care services thereafter till the baby is fit.
The hospital with recent infrastructural and human resources expansion, the hospital has now introduced night emergencies, added the official.
Cardiac surgeon Dr Athouba Arambam of Imphal Heart Institute (IHI) is also available in the hospital for CTVS OPD consultation in MCCHRC.
In a brief interaction with the super specialist Dr Athouba, stated that cardia OPD will be for both adult and pediatric patients.
He added that cardiac care in the region is something that is not yet well developed.
More often, neonates and children with complex heart diseases needing early intervention are either sent to metro cities while those who cannot afford are left to their fate as the facilities is not affordably available in the State.
But now MCCHRC will collaborate with IHI to launch a heart institute within the hospital premises, equipped with state-of-the art facilities which are expected to start its functioning towards the end of May, this year.
CATH-Lab and other facilities will be provided in the hospital, he added.
