Imphal, March 31 2016:
Against
the backdrop of the Court
dismissing the pleas of
Taratombi and Herojit in
connection with July 23 BT
Road incident, the Working
Committee of the Apunba Lup
today expressed strong concern
over the alleged silence of the
three pillars of democracy
legislative, judiciary and
executive over the matter.
In a statement, WCAL
avowed not to remain silent
when the Government fails to
deliver justice to the people.
It also urged the people to get
prepared to fight for justice.
It asserted that Union Min-
ister of State for Home Kiren
Rijiju has failed to translate
his promise of looking into
the new development of the
July 23, 2009 BT Road inci-
dent and providing protection
to Herojit.
This smacks of
deceiving the people of the
State.
WCAL also wanted to
know the reason as to why
the State BJP has choson to
neglect the matter.
It pointed out that the State
Assembly irrespective of rul-
ing and Opposition members
had lauded the statement of
Chief Minister O Ibobi when
he told the House that 'there
was no other options than
killing them' on the day the
BT Road incident took place
in 2009.However, the As-
sembly did not discuss the
matter when Herojit made a
startling confession through
the media regarding the BT Road incident this year.
This has prompted peo-
ple of the State including Apunba Lup to question whether the
Government is there for the people or for just a few people.
It also questioned why the Opposition members are silent
over the issue.
