Two RPF/PLA cadres arrested

Imphal, July 30 2022: A team of Imphal East District Police Commando arrested two cadres of the banned RPF/PLA including a woman on Saturday.

The arrested cadres have been identified as Ningthoujam (o) Debala alias Echan (40), daughter of (late) Laishram Sunarchand of Thangmeiband Lourungpurel Leikai and Huidrom Premchand (34), son of (late) H Bijoy of Kakwa Laiphrakpam Leikai.

According to police report, a commando team led by additional SP (Ops) Kh Herojit and OC inspector Kh Henry conducted a search operation at Kakwa Laiphrakpam Leikai on Saturday morning during which Premchand was rounded up from his house around 9:10 am .

He then revealed the name of Debala and she was subsequently arrested by the same team from Thangmeiband Lourungpurel Leikai around 10:20 am.

A TVS scooter, Rs 50,000 cash and two mobile phones were also seized from the arrested duo.

On initial interrogation, Premchand revealed that he joined RPF/PLA through one Bikram of Tera Lukram Leirak in 2016 .

On the other hand, Debala disclosed that she joined the banned group in 1999 under one Maya and underwent 45 days basic military training under one Paona and was given army No 1673 .

She is presently a self-styled sergeant major in the RPF/PLA.

During their interrogation, it was found that both of them are working under one Sanka of RPF/PLA under whose direction they extorted money from private firms, government offices, contractors, etc.

Both the accused have been handed over to Singjamei police station for further action.
