Imphal, July 30 2015:
Editors Guild, Manipur has appealed to all organisations concerned to instruct their volunteers not to prevent media persons from performing their duties.
In a statement, EGM said that despite repeated requests, media persons and reporters continue to be stopped and even face harassment from some people taking part in the ongoing ILPS demand movement and agitation relating to the death of Robinhood.
Today too, a team of media persons was stopped from crossing Dingku Road while on their way to collect news at the house of the late Robinhood, it said.
If such situation continues, media will not be able function properly.
The EGM therefore appealed to all organisations to instruct their volunteers not to prevent any media person from performing his or her duty.
If anyone has any doubt about the authenticity of the identity of any media person, they are welcome to contact the president and general secretary of EGM as well as editors concerned.
The EGM president, A Mobi may be contacted through 9206123606 and general secretary Yumnam Rupachandra through 9612158469 .
