Beneficiaries allege unethical practice regarding PMAYG scheme

Jiribam, October 29 2017: Under the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of Manipur, the housing scheme of Pradhan Mantri Awaz Yojana – Gramin (PMAYG) which allotted at Sonapur Gram panchayat, Jiribam for the financial year 2016-17 came to public notice for some forgery in the bank account number in support of the names of the beneficiaries .

The housing beneficiaries of PMAYG from Sonapur Gram Panchayat alleged that their Panchayat Gram Rojgar Shawak (GRS) Md Hasan Choudhary alias Jony, has manipulated many beneficiaries names and bank accounts .

The beneficiaries also blamed the GRS by saying that he had allegedly entered the bank account numbers of other people against the beneficiaries’ names and robbed the benefits from the bank in their names .

After getting the report of such manipulation and forgery, a team of media persons visited Sonapur Gram Panchayat areas today and while enquiring the matter, it came to the notice of the media persons that in the list of 128 beneficiaries some of the beneficiaries names were not mentioned.

On the other hand some other beneficiaries bank account numbers were not supported to their self processed bank account number.

In connection with the matter, the media persons talked with Haider ALI, ex- Pradhan of Sonapur Gram Panchayat, during which Haider Ali reported that in his tenure, the scheme was launched and he had identified and forwarded 84 beneficiaries’ names list and the remaining beneficiaries names and forgery is beyond his recognition.

Thereafter, one of the genuine beneficiary, namely Md Toshodor Ali interacted with media persons and said that his name was enlisted in the beneficiary list, however his bank account number is not supported with the account number mentioned in the beneficiary list .

He appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter at the earliest and provide the benefit which the Government sanctioned in his name.

The public and beneficiaries of PMAYG of Sonapur GP also sought the attention of the Chief Minister, local MLA of Jiribam regarding the matter and appealed for necessary legal actions against the culprits who are involved in the forgery of PMGSY scheme of Sonapur Gram Panchayat in the larger interest of general public.
