Imphal, October 29 2015:
Lending his weight to the Congress party's campaign for the by-election to Thangmeiband and Thongju Assembly segments, Chief Minister O Ibobi asserted that Kh Joykishan and Th Bishwajit were disqualified for party hopping.
They could not file any petition at Court against the disqualification order of the Speaker's Tribunal because they knew they were guilty, Ibobi stated.
Speaking at a political convention held today at Tarung community hall under the aegis of the Thangmeiband Block Congress Committee, Ibobi categorically stated that it was former MLA Joykishan who rejected a suggestion to use modern machinery in repairing roads in Thangmeiband A/C so that they last long.
Most of the roads of Thangmeiband have broken apart as the former MLA opted to repair the roads manually.
In case Congress candidate Jyotin Waikhom is elected in the by-election, all the development works that could not be executed by Joykishan during his stint as an MLA during the past three years and six months would be executed and completed in the next one year and six months before the term of the incumbent Manipur Legislative Assembly expires, Ibobi assured.
He then appealed to all the electorate of Thangmeiband A/C to elect Jyotin so as to make up some of the development deficits of Thangmeiband A/C before the next State Assembly election.
People of Manipur need not be disheartened just because there is a BJP-led Government at the Centre.
The Centre would never dare to hold back or forfeit the State's share.
The peace accord signed between the BJP-led Government and NSCN-IM with a hidden agenda has bred suspicion and anxiety among the people of Manipur.
The BJP-led Government's performance in the past one year and six months is known to the public.
Writers given to eminent writers have been returned.
A political crisis broke out recently after Kerala Bhavan, Delhi was raided to check whether beef was cooked there.
There would be turmoil in the State too if BJP is elected to power.
As such, people's mandate should not be given to BJP under any circumstances.
Ibobi then exuded that people would come up with a befitting response to the BJP's agenda.
MPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam stated that Thangmeiband and Thongju are going to by-poll because of political naivety on the part of the two former MLAs.
The allegation that the two were disqualified by a conspiracy hatched between the Chief Minister, the Speaker and the State Government was totally baseless.
Asking whether Joykishan consulted the people of Thangmeiband when he hopped from one party to another, Gaikhangam maintained majority of the voters are unlikely to vote for Joykishan.
Being a novice in electoral politics, Joykishan got drunk with the power entitled to an MLA.
He also appealed to the public to dissuade Joykishan from contesting elections ever again.
By inviting by-election, public money as well as time have been wasted, Gaikhangam remarked.
JD-U State president M Tombi asserted that BJP is an enemy of the people.
Voting in favour of BJP would tantamount to endorsing the peace accord signed between NSCN-IM and the BJP-led Central Government, Tombi said.
PHE Minister I Hemochandra, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam and many other Congress MLAs were also present at the convention where candidate Jyotin Waikhom gave the vote of thanks.
