Langban Tarpon offered to martyrs

Prayers and other oblations were offered at Leishang Hiden today for the brave heroes who made supreme sacrifice for the cause of the motherland in the ongoing conflict to rest in peace.
A large number of people gathered at Leishang Hiden in Canchipur to participate in the ritual of offering Langban Heisoi (Tarpon) jointly organised by Committee of Forward Clubs (CFC) Thongju, Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (AMPL) Thongju, Peace & Integrity Committee Kiyamgei (PICK) and All Kiyamgei Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup, Kiyamgei.
Speaking on the occasion, PICK convenor Chingakham Meghachndra said that the unprecedented scale of communal violence unleashed by the armed Kukis over the past 16 months have severely impacted the Meiteis where many have been killed and thousands have been rendered homeless.
Claiming that illegal immigrants have forcefully occupied many hill areas, he appealed to the indigenous communities residing in the hill districts to be very vigilant and take precautionary measures to protect their near & dear ones.
He also called for collective effort of all the indigenous communities to protect Manipur from the aggression of illegal immigrants.
CFC Thongju vice president Kharibam Rohendro appealed to the State and Central Government to take immediate action to end the prolonged conflict and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur at the earliest.
Also, the gathering took a number of resolutions such as construction of a memorial site for brave heroes who gave their lives in the present conflict and developing the Leishang Hiden; work collectively against all those threatening the territorial integrity of Manipur; and pressure Government to make all possible efforts to rescue the two missing youths and return them to their families safe & sound.
Moreover, Chabungbang Sagei Apunba Lup also organised a solemn function at Senior Citizen Home in Kongba Nongthombam Leikai today to offer "Langban Tarpon" to the brave heroes who gave their lives in the ongoing conflict.
The gathering also offered prayers & other oblations for the deceased members of Changbungbam Sagei to rest in peace.
As part of the event, a grand feast was also organised and simple gifts were presented to the senior citizens staying in the Home.
A free health camp was also conducted and medicines were distributed to the senior citizens.
Similarly, Raising Youth Organisation (RYO) also organised a Langban Heisoi Tamba (Tarpon) ritual to pay homage to the ancestors and martyrs who have sacrificed their lives during the ongoing conflict at Bhakta Ashram Moirangkhom Bokul Makhong on Sunday.
The Ibudhou Pakhangba Thougal Lup (IPTL), Shillong with the support of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB), Imphal also organised a "Langban Heishoi Katpa" ritual at the Buddhist Temple Hall, Polo Hills, Shillong, on Sunday.
"Langban Heishoi Katpa", the annual ritual for the departed, performed to honour and remember the deceased, and to express gratitude to ancestors of the seven clans (salais) of the Meiteis was attended by many who are posted and residing in Shillong.
