Efforts on to resume traffic on NH-37: CM

Reaching out to the people after the collapse of Irang Bridge along Imphal-Jiribam Highway, Chief Minister N Biren has said that efforts are underway to let vehicular movements resume along National Highway-37 .
Though the old Irang bridge had collapsed, vehicular movement will be resumed shortly via the recently constructed RCC bridge, the Chief Minister posted on his Facebook page.
He also said that there are three important bridges along National Highway-37 and they are Makru, Barak and Irang bridges.
He said that the Makru and Barak bridges were inaugurated in 2021 and 2022 .
The Chief Minister further said that people of Taobam village and villagers and authorities at Noney are also working in full swing to ensure there is no obstruction in the movement of vehicles.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister inspected several places which got flooded due to swelling of rivers and breaching of river banks and asked the people to not panic.
The Chief Minister inspected the waterlogging at Kangla Fort complex caused by the overflowing of Kekrupat at North AOC.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai and Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam during the inspection tour.
While sharing the clip of his inspection tour, the Chief Minister wrote, "Inspected the situation at Kangla after water breached inside.
Necessary measures are underway to protect the site.
State security forces, officials from the Water Resources Department and volunteers are joining hands to tackle the issue.
I urge all to remain calm and not to panic" .
In another post, he wrote, "Due to water breaches in several river banks, many lives including cattle have been seriously affected.
All concerned authorities of the state government, security personnel, NDRF and local volunteers are working tirelessly to ensure safety and provide assistance to everyone affected.
Those who got stranded in severely affected areas are being relocated to safe places using boats" .
