IDPs demand justice for arrested mate

Imphal, April 29 2025: Internally displaced persons staying at Khurkhul Mandap Yumpham Relief Camp staged a demonstration protesting arrest of an inmate in Assam on "false charge" of being a member of a proscribed outfit.

An inmate of the relief camp, Ningthoujam Gyan Singh was arrested by the Pulibor police in Assam on April 27 .

He has been accused of being a member of KCP MC.

N Gyan Singh hails from Leimakhong Chingmang and his family was displaced in the conflict which started on May 3, 2023 .

IDPs demand justice for arrested mate

N Gyan had been staying at the Khurkhul relief camp and he is not a member of any proscribed underground outfit, asserted the displaced folks during the protest demonstration today.

He is a displaced civilian who has been staying at the camp.

He went to Assam on April 18 to get a No Objection Certificate for a vehicle.

He has a wife and three children.

Accusing him of being a member of a proscribed outfit is outrageous, and is a false charge, said the protesters.

The displaced folks urged relevant authorities of the State to intervene and reach out to the Assam Police to secure his release at the earliest.
