RPI-A to launch nation-wide agitation

Republican Party of India (Athawale) on Wednesday held a nation al-level meeting and resolved to launch nationwide mass protest with regard to the crisis gripping Manipur for over one-and-half years.
The meeting, organised at New Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi on the agenda "Manipur Issue, A National Issue", was attended by national secretary Maheshwar Thounaojam and other state party presidents from Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam Sikkim, Daman & Diu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Kerala, Bihar and others.
During the meeting, Maheshwar said that the prevailing crisis in Manipur is not just one state's issue but slowly spreading to other states including Nagaland, Assam and Mizoram.
It is now a national issue, he asserted.
"It would pose challenge to national security in case drone and rocket attacks faced by the civilians in Manipur spread to other parts of the country," he cautioned, adding that experts and even the NIA had hinted at external forces funding the conflict and supplying weapons.
Alerting on the situation, he questioned the motives of the central leaders for ignoring the north eastern states particularly Manipur.
"It would be best for the centre to eliminate the terrorists who are the root cause of this crisis, to prevent the situation from further worsening," he urged.
Later, the party's nation al leaders including Rajeev Menon, state presidents and other representatives agreed to launch a nationwide mass protest to prevent the violence from spreading across the country.
