Covid relief items distributed

Khundrakpam Kendra Development Committee (KKDC) under the aegis of the MLA, Th Lokeshwar distributed essential items to households in the containment zone in Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency today.
The essential items were distributed at Pourabi, Chanung, Pukhao Terapur, Keibi Heikakmapal, Tejpur, Leitanpokpi, Khundrakpam Makha and Sawombung.
Speaking on the sidelines, president of KKDC, Maibam Kunje lauded the MLA Th Lokeshwar for his relentless efforts efforts for the welfare of Khundrakpam AC.
The MLA has also been extending best possible help to the people of the AC during this trying times of COVID-19 pandemic.
He continued that KKDC along with the Covid Task Forces of Khundrakpam have been striving earnestly to tackle the pandemic and have managed the issue properly till date.
Founder of Breaking the Silence Worldwide Foundation, Urmila Chanam distributed protective gear made up of high grade N95 masks, face shield, Dettol disinfectants and soap bars to the frontline Covid task force volunteers of Socio Economic Industrial Cultural Organisation (SEICO) at Chanam Pukhri Mapal in Singjamei yesterday.

The items were distributed acknowledging the contribution of the volunteers who have been proactively working in prevention, control, treatment and care since the outbreak of Covid-19, said a statement by the foundation.
An interaction session followed to discuss the challenges the community frontline workers experience in their work and how they overcame those barriers.
Speaking on the occasion, Urmila Chanam elaborated about the various hardships faced by the Covid volunteers amid the trying times of COVID-19 pandemic.
The leikai club and its Covid-19 task forces does not have any fund to sponsor its work for community welfare and has to mobilize contributions from its community, failing which, there is no resource to utilize at the time of crisis, she added.
Inspite of all these barriers, the SEICO club community volunteers are dedicated, focused, positive and all they need is a pat on their back and some appreciation, she continued.
She also put forth some recommendations to SEICO Club collected from the best practices in other parts of India and from her experience as a social worker in community and public health sector.
The distribution campaign will be carried out in two districts of Manipur- Imphal West and Imphal East as well.
Also Puyam Ongbi Rebica, member of Bijoy Govinda Gram Panchayat in Patsoi Assembly Constituency in Imphal West district handed over relief items to ASHA workers of the ward yesterday.
