Imphal, February 28 2016:
Reacting to the State Government's suspension of five police personnel for alleged harassment of members of Naga Students' Federation (NSF) on February 14, the Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has appealed to the police personnel to suspend duty till the revocation of the suspension order.
Speaking to media persons, KSA general secretary Sukham Bidyananda said Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, after DIG IK Muivah met NSF, had stated that Manipur police personnel did no harass or assault any NSF members on February 14 as alleged by the federation.
However, the following day after the Dy CM made the statement, the State Government suspended five police personnel involved in the alleged assault.
It is a shame on the part of the Deputy Chief Minister for acting against his own statements.
Seeking clarification from the Deputy Chief Minister for his conduct, the KSA enquired why no actions have been taken against police personnel who remained a mute spectator at the time when NSF members were harassing Manipuri vehicles.
It has further questioned if the Home Department is functioning under the NSF.
KSA will ban entry of NSF into the State if the suspension orders are not revoked at the earliest, he added.
