FEGOCTA suspends stir

Following an assurance from the State Government that the demands raised by the Federation of Government College Teachers' Associations (FEGOCTA) Manipur, will be discussed by the Cabinet within three weeks time, the association has relaxed its agitation till October 21 .
A statement issued by the general secretary of FEGOCTA today mentioned that upon receiving an invitation from the State Government, representatives of the association met the Education Minister along with the Commissioner of Higher Education and other officials.
The demands of FEGOCTA to implement 7th UGC Pay and regulations 2018 for the teachers of Government colleges and university were discussed in detail and the Government gave a written assurance to the president of FEGOCTA that the matter will be placed before the Cabinet within three weeks time, it added.
It continued that following the assurance of the Government, the association convened an emergency meeting and considering the positive actions of the Government and taking the interest of the students into account, it was resolved to relax the ongoing agitation till October 21.Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister and the Education Minister for promptly taking up the demands of the association, it urged the Government to make good on its promise at the earliest.
If the Government fails to do so, the association will resume its agitation, it warned.
It also appealed to all the college teachers fraternity to resume normal academic activities during the period but to remain vigilant and ready for any eventuality.
On the other hand, the All Manipur College Teachers' Association has also announced that it will suspend its agitation taking the assurance given by the State Government into consideration.
The association also informed that a meeting regarding the issue will be convened on September 28 as well.
