Rotary Club of Imphal organises 'Rotary Car Rally'

The Rotary Club of Imphal organised a "Rotary Car Rally" to spread awareness on "Save Loktak Lake, Save Environment and Say No To Plastic" along with the promotion of "Rotary's - The Four Way Test" today.
According to a statement issued by Rotary Club of Imphal, the rally was flagged off by M Harekrishna, IAS, Commissioner, Govt of Manipur from Rotary Bhavan, Mantripukhri.
It culminated at Loktak Lake, Sendra, Bishnupur district.
The rally teams stopped at Nambol Bazar, Bishnupur Bazar and Moirang Bazar and distributed about 1000 eco-friendly cloth bags along with pamphlets inscribed with 'Rotary's - The Four Way Test' to the public at all three market places to spread the message of "Save Loktak Lake, Save Environment and Say No To Plastic" .

The rally ended at the Loktak Lake, Sendra with the handing over of a plaque inscribed with 'Rotary's - The Four Way Test' to Longjam Bhagaton Singh, Director, Loktak Development Authority by the president of the club.
Longjam Bhagaton Singh thanked the members of Rotary Club of Imphal for organizing such an awareness programme and encouraging the public to say no to plastic and use eco-friendly bags.
Later, he also arranged a lunch for all the participating members and family members of Rotary Club of Imphal.
It may be noted that the programme was organised as part of the golden jubilee year celebration of the club. In this connection, Pramod Jaiswal, president of the club, appealed to the general public to help save the Loktak Lake and use eco-friendly bags while doing daily marketing.
He thanked the District Administration, Bishnupur and the District Police, Bishnupur for giving logistical support for a smooth conduct of the programme.
He also thanked the Director, LDA for the support during the awareness programme.
He said that the club has been organising tree plantation programmes at different places of the State every year to save the environment, the statement added.
Earlier yesterday, Rotary Club of Imphal, as a part of its continuing community service project, visited Yaibilen Children Home, Keibi, Imphal East and organised a lunch for the children of the home under the theme 'Rotary Chaklen Chaminnasi' .
Eatable items were also handed over to the home for the children which were sponsored by Yolga Yambem and Ramesh Agarwal.
