Arrested KCP men brought back, UGs held

Of the four KCP cadres arrested by a combined team of security forces from Guwahati, two cadres were brought to Imphal today by a team of Manipur Police.
The four cadres were arrested by a combined team of Guwahati City Police, Military Intelligence and 120th Bn CRPF during pre-Independence Day raids at different places of Guwahati on August 12 .
SS Thoubal district commander Thingujam Joyshankar alias Ingocha alias Dillip (32) of Thoubal Kiyam Mayai Leikai and Athokpam Sunil alias Langamba alias Lenin (31) of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal were brought to Imphal from Guwahati in a morning flight today.
Along with registration of a case in Thoubal police station, they would be produced before a relevant court tomorrow.
Notably, Guwahati City Police claimed to have seized three computer sets, nine SIM cards, two memory cards, driving licences and Rs 45,000 in cash.
The Guwahati Police also hinted about possible links between the KCP cadres and ULFA.
On the other hand, troops of 5/9 Gorkha Rifles and 10 Assam Rifles of Loktak Brigade launched a joint operation on August 24 during which an overground worker of the KYKL namely Oinam Sunil Singh (40) s/o (L) O Irabat Singh of Toupopkpi in Bishnupur district has been apprehended, said a PIB (DW) release adding that a hand grenade has also been recovered.
Troops of the same Gorkha Rifles units also arrested a UNLF activist from Terakhongsangbi in Bishnupur district, maintained the release.
identifying the arrested person as SS L/Cpl Khumanthem Domendro (26) s/o (L) K Doren Singh of Bishnupur Ward No 4, the PIB (DW) release said the individual has been handed over to Moirang police station.
On the otherhand, troops of 29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector reportedly arrested a UPPK cadre from Chamol track junction while travelling in a Maruti Van (MN04A/1003) on August 24 .
The apprehendee namely Soibam Sagar alias Thounafaba Singh (18) s/o S Kuber Singh of Yairipok in Thoubal district has been handed over to Imphal West police station, informed a PRO IGAR (S) release.
Meanwhile, a joint team of 23 Assam Rifles and 43 Assam Rifles recovered one 9 mm pistol, three live rounds of 9 mm from a suspected hide-out in Holbung area of Ukhrul district on August 25, said the release .
