Lamka, July 25 2014 :
The Hmar Peoples' Convention-Democratic (HPC-D) claimed that the outfit is responsible for the recent bomb attack on the Mizoram police vehicle which was parked near the resident of Hmingchunghnunga in Aizawl.
Hmingchunghnunga is also the chairman of Sinlung Hills Development Council (SHDC) .
The Hmar underground outfit in a press release said that with great confidence, the Hmar people entrusted the HPC under the leadership of Hmingchunghnung to secure the 1994 Peace Accord between the Government of Mizoram and the HPC.
The Peace Accord resulted in the creation of the Sinlung Hills Development Council (SHDC), which was mutually agreed to come under an interim period for two years, after which it was also agreed to be upgraded to an Autonomous District Council (ADC) under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
However, even after twenty years of the Peace Accord, the Government of Mizoram exercise no political will to fulfill the agreed terms and Hmingchunghnung has become a political toy for the Government of Mizoram in his capacity as the serving chairman of the SHDC .
The Government of Mizoram as well as Hmingchunghnung is equally responsible for disgracing the cause of the Hmar people, the press note of the HPC-D stated.
"Moreover, to enhance his narrow and selfish political interest, Hmingchunghnung has been repeatedly hand-in-gloves with the Government of Mizoram," the HPC-D said.
It then claimed that the evidence is for all to see in the recent military operations carried out by the Mizoram Armed Police (MAP) in Parvachawm, Lungthulien, Ngampabung and Patpuihmun villages in Tipaimukh constituency of Manipur.
The HPC (D) has Suspension of Operation with the Government of Manipur and the Centre.
The recent military operations carried out by the MAP are a violation of the ground rules, it said.
The HPC (D) could have acted against them if it had no respect for the plea of the respective villages.
"The HPC (D) Special Operation Units are significantly and strategically stationed in Aizawl and other parts of Mizoram.
Had it not been for our commitment to minimum harm reduction, we will all be a witness to severe loss.
This is a reminder to the Government of Mizoram that the HPC (D) can choose its target at its will without causing any harm to the public.
We will do it when we are bound to do it.
We will not tolerate the injustice and inhumane discrimination imposed upon the Hmar people," it added.
