Imphal, June 25 2021: Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today remanded six individuals who were arrested by a team of Imphal police station for allegedly uploading indecent photos and videos on social media to judicial and police custody.

Only one accused was remanded to judicial custody by the Court.

All the accused (members of the Facebook page " Kanglei Imagi...Nupising and Whatapp group where sexually explicit contents are shared) were arrested yesterday in connection with a suo moto FIR registered against them at Imphal Police Station.

One of the accused Thokchom Lanchenba (18) of Lamboi Khongnangkhong was produced before the Court along with a prayer for remanding him to judicial custody remand while five other accused - Victor Sorokhaibam @ Ngongo (28) of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, Khuraijam Surjakumar @ Dhoko 28 of Singjamei Chinga Makha, Konjengbam Arunkumar @ Franky @ Bulbul (29) Kwakeithel Lamdong Leikai, Soibam Singhajit (28) of Singda Karang Part 1 and Oinam Nanao (33) of Top Moiran Kampu were produced before the Court along with a prayer for remanding them to seven days police custody.

The IO of the case through APP submitted that accused Thokchom Lanchenba is a member of the WhatsApp group and on June 24 at around 2 pm, he uploaded a pornographic video from his mobile phone.

The accused, however, deleted all the substance in his mobile phone and left the said group.

The IO also submitted that the five other accused, who allegedly are members of the Facebook group, uploaded nude/ obscene pictures and video on the page by morphing pictures and video downloaded from other Facebook accounts and captioning them with indecent words.

The Court after hearing and on perusal of the case record and material produced remanded Thokchom Lanchenba to judicial custody till July 9 and the five others to police custody till June 29 .
