Imphal, June 25 2016 :
The JAC of Namthanjang Rongmei Village has refutes the statement of Namthanjang Village Authority which appeared in some sections of the media yesterday.
JAC chairman Athan Kamei said that the statement made by R Makudinang on behalf of Namthanjang VA was all false and fabricated.
Namthanjang Rongmei village came into existence in 1978 and before that the village was known as Khonglong Kabui village.
Thus, there is no land dispute between the villagers of Khonglong Part-2 and Namthanjang as alleged by R Makudinang, Athan Kamei in a statement said.
Earlier R Makudinang was working as the secretary of MGNREGA Committee of the village.
However, he had misused the fund released for MGNREGA without executing the work in the village, he alleged.
Consequently, villagers started questioning his wrongdoing of siphoning off public money in collusion with certain staff of bank and programme officer.
As villagers came to know his game plan of siphoning off money, he was asked to reimburse the money, which he had misused, Athan Kamei said.
However, instead of reimbursing the money, which he had misused, R Makudinang left the village in the month of February 2016 along with his family members.
Thereafter, R Makudinang and his family did not come back to the village till date.
After leaving his village, he made a false and fabricated allegation that the villagers destroyed his house and properties.
However, the villagers had refuted the said false and fabricated charges, Athan Kamei said.
On June 17, R Makudinang his sons and associates opened fire at the villagers thereby causing injuries to seven villagers of Namthanjang village.
Gamnom Sapermeina police station had taken up a case against R Makudinang for the indiscriminate firing under FIR No 24 (6) 2016 of Gamnom-Sapermeina PS U/S 307/353/34 IPC & 25 (1-C) A Act, he said.
R Makudinang is still absconding, Athan added.
