Security measures tightened up ahead of Republic Day celebration

Imphal, January 25 2023: Imphal West district commando personnel tightened up security measures ahead of the Republic Day celebration tomorrow and conducted house to house search operations.

The cordon house to house search operation and sanitization was led by Inspector P Achouba OC Imphal West Commando under the command of M Amit, Additional SP Operation.

The commando team conducted a search operation at Maharani Bridge area covering Wahengbam Leikai Parking area, Shamu Makhong, Masajid road and Uripok Chakri Kom area.

During the search operation more than 160 persons were verified properly and detained two persons who have failed to produce their proper identity proofs.

The detained persons were handed over to the City Police Station for further verification.

Security measures tightened up ahead of Republic Day celebration

Later sanitization of the main function area in 1st Manipur Rifle was done by a combined team of Imphal West Commandos and personnel of 1st Manipur Rifle Battalion and conducted house to house search and verification of the 1st MR family line quarters and Central Jail quarter line.

During the search operation, more than 190 quarters were thoroughly searched and more than 200 persons were verified however no one was picked up for further questioning.

In the evening, Imphal West commando team conducted intensified frisking and checking of vehicles in all the junctions of the State capital to prevent any kind of unwanted incident during the Republic day celebration.

A number of security personnel of Manipur Police including Manipur Rifle and IRB have been deployed in important places of Imphal West and Imphal East district as a part of the preventive security measures.
