Beware of "mobile tower fraud": Kourouhanba

Thoubal, November 24 2018: Indigenous People's Right Initiative Manipur averted a mass mobile tower fraud from taking into a definite form after its member uncovered the modus operandi of a fake company trying to source huge amount of money from many vulnerable targets from different places of Manipur on the pretext of installing mobile tower in the victim' s property, said Executive Director of the organization, advocate M Kourouhanba Luwang and added that said bogus company are still operating in the State by luring the victims on promise of huge rental income.

He further appealed the public to be vigilant and remained alert about such gang and urged the authority concerned to investigate the matter at the earliest.

While interacting with the media persons in a press meet held at the office of Indigenous People's Rights Initiative Manipur, Thoubal Kiyam Shiphai, Executive Director advocate M Kourouhanba Luwang said that its members has started an investigation to identify the gang members involved in such illicit operation following an information that some fraudsters are collecting money in the name of mobile operator company after they made calls to many vulnerable persons in different location of Manipur with the promise of huge rental income after the installation of mobile tower at their property.

Following which, the members of Indigenous People's Right Initiative Manipur issued stern warning to the gang members of such fraud company to stop all such illegal activities, he added.

However, it has been learnt that the gang members have brushed aside their warning and continue to make call to the vulnerable target as confirmed by two persons - Shyamkumar of Yairipok Ukhongshang and Premkumar of Moirangkhom after they revealed that they received calls from such fraudsters, he asserted.

Kouraouhanba continued that the fraudsters used phone nos 8479877805, 9830844767, 9062912516, landline no 3340566756, 09246536, 409246534, 409246535, 9062247429, 409741751, +913340566757 etc while making call to the vulnerable targets, representing a company called 'Dealmoney Security Pvt Ltd' based in Mumbai and Kolkata with false promise of intallation of Jio and Airtel mobile towers.

'Dealmoney Security Pvt Ltd' is a genuine company which was re-christened from 'Destimoney', however said company is besieged with scores of fraud cases filed by many complainants from different parts of India.

"Anybody who received such fraudulent calls from any person can inform Indigenous People's Rights Initiative Manipur through mobile no 7005143391, and such fraudsters can be booked under IPC Section 420 with jail terms of upto seven years 7 and fine", said Kouraouhanba.
