Imphal, July 24 2014:
The Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has in a press release demanded to table the issue of natural boundary demarcation between Tamenglolng district and Jiribam sub-division during the ongoing assembly session so as to bring solution based on the enquiry report conducted by a team of State Government during January 7-9, 2014 .
The press release conveyed that ZYF has been observing the sincerity of the State Government regarding the district boundary issue where both parties i.e.the State Government and ZYF came to an understanding during a meeting with the Chief Minister at the Chief Minister Secretariat on December 13, 2013 wherein agreed to depute enquiry team consisting of officials from Tamenglong and Imphal East district including officials from Jiribam to verify the natural boundary between the Tamenglolng district and Jiribam.
Accordingly, the State Government sent an official team comprising of 16 personnel on January, 7 9, 2014 and conducted on spot verification and the relevant enquiry report has already been submitted to the Government for taking up further necessary action.
It was also agreed for another meeting as soon as the enquiry report is submitted to the Government.
The ZYF had apprised the Deputy Chief Minister, on 17th March 17, 2014 in the presence of Deputy Speaker at the former official residence and gave assurance to ZYF that the Government will invite ZYF in consultation with the Chief Minister after Lok Sabha Election to discuss matter.
But the State Government is yet to invite ZYF for a meeting but instead kept the issue in the cold storage.
There is no discussion in the ongoing Assembly session regarding this matter which is serious in nature, it added.
However, a Sub-Committee under Hill Areas Committee naming it as "Inter District Boundary Dispute Committee" headed by Kikhonbou Newmai, Vice-Chairman, HAC as Chairman for the Committee with five other MLAs as members of the said committee from hill districts was formed.
Constituting Committee after the State Government failed to bring solution to the issue indicated lack of responsibility and commitment of the State Government thereby inviting strong agitation.
The ZYF demanded the State Government to table the issue and discuss the matter during the ongoing session and bring solution based on enquiry report, it said.
