National Girl Child Day observed all over

In observance of the 'National Girl Child Day', the ICDS Cell, Senapati and district administration Senapati, jointly organised a 'Free Style Open Group Dance Competition' on the theme 'Awake and acknowledge girls' under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative at Multipurpose Hall, Senapati.
The program was attended by Th Kirankumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati as the chief guest in the presence of different District Level Officers and staff.
Addressing the event, Th Kirankumar asserted that there are many girls who excel in their own ways in different fields and everyone must encourage them to do so.
Senapati district is one of the places where women empowerment can be clearly seen.
Education is the only way to tackle the notion of preferring boy child over girl child embedded in the society.
Th Kirankumar appealed to the gathering to look forward positively and take up more activities for the welfare of the society.
He also urged them to take the lead in trying to contain the spread of coronavirus in the district.
Miranda Zimik, District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Senapati stated that National Girl Child Day is celebrated every year under the Ministry of Child and Women Development, Government of India with the objective of raising awareness on the issue of declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR).
Various programmes such as speech competition, drawing competition, choreography competition, women volleyball competition and singing competition had been taken up, she added.
Miranda Zimik also mentioned that the department of the ICDS Cell, Senapati was awarded the National Award for effective engagement of community and National Recognition for innovative approach in the implementation of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao programme.
In today's event, 24 teams participated in the 'Free Style Open Group Dance Competition' in which A Star, Black Flickers and Little Star walked away with cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 as the first, second and third position holders respectively.
The programme was attended by DLOs, Church leaders and various society leaders.
Similarly, National Girl Child Day was also observed at Heirok Part-Ill Bamon Leirak in Thoubal district with the theme 'Beti Hai To Sristi Hai' by Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP), Manipur Prant, today.
The programme was attended by BVP National vice president, Dr Sinam Rajendra; CAU Imphal former VC and BVP patron Prof M Premjit; BVP National publicity secretary, B Birmangol Sharma; RIMS Medical Superintendent and BVP Manipur Prant President, Dr H Priyasakhi and BVP Imphal Sakha president, K Saratkumar as presidium members.
As a part of the programme, H Joybi gave a lecture on 'Nationa Girl Child Day', MCPCR member Ksh Jitendra on 'Child Marriage', actress L Tonthoi on 'How to succeed in Manipuri film as an actress', Dr Prescilla on 'Menstrual Health and Hygiene' and Dr Sinam Subhashchandra on 'Nutrition and Oral Health' .
National Girl Child Day was also observed at Girls World Open Shelter Home in Bishnupur Ward number 4 by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and District Administration Bishnupur.
It was attended by DCPU Bishnupur officer, N Nandashyam Singh; Child Welfare Committee Bishnupur Chairperson, P Premchand Singh and Protection Officer (Institutional Care), H Eliza Devi as presidium members.
Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal also observed National Girl Child Day by organising a Drama Play on the theme 'Water Conservation & Rainwater Harvesting' at Kiyam Thoubal.
Likewise, Women Cell in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Thambal Marik College Oinam also observed National Girl Child Day with the theme 'Towards a Better Nation' .
Dr O Rajendra Singh; Dr M Bhubaneshwori Devi, Principal Thambal Marik College Oinam; Dr K Kunjabali Singh; S Supriya Devi, former general secretary, All Manipur Bar Association; S Bharti Devi; K Bimola Devi and N Anupama Devi, Assistant Professor, attended the programme.
