Pointing out that one of the main causes for polluting Loktak is the waste materials brought down by various rivers flowing into the lake, the Minister said that it is due to lack of proper awareness among the people settling along the banks of these rivers.
Keeping this in mind, Zero Garbage Campaign has been launched in Imphal Municipal area, the Minister said, while hoping that the campaign would also help in improving the environment of the lake to a large extent.
Presided over by MLA Dr Kh Ratan, the function was also attended by president of MANITRON MLA E Dwijamani, Senior Scientific Officer of Environment and Ecology Wing Homeshore and Col Bharadwaj as guests of honour.
