CBSTDCM sets deadline for Govt to act

Imphal, May 23 2016:
Asserting that the public meeting of May 22 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen had reiterated the stand that the Meeteis/Meiteis should be included in the list of Scheduled Tribe under the Constitution of India, the Co-ordinating Body of the Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee (CBSTDCM) has asked the State Government to do what it should before the Assembly session scheduled to be held in July.
The CBSTDCM in a statement today said that it would go along with the public to exert the necessary pressure on the State Government to start doing what it should to include the Meeteis/Meiteis in the ST list within the Assembly session of July this year.
Stating that it is ready to mobilise the people, CBSTDCM said that it will continue with the campaign in each and every leikai to dispel any doubts over the matter and urged everyone to come forward and state their opinion during the campaign.
The public meeting on May 22 was a success said CBSTDCM and extended its gratitude to all the people who turned up and expressed their opinion.
CBSTDCM also expressed its gratitude to all those who extended assistance including retired SP of Nagaland police, P Sonamani Singh who contributed Rs 41,500 on behalf of Manipur Association, North East India (MANEI) and all those who contributed together Rs 20,700 .
CBSTDCM also expressed its gratitude to all those who attended the public meeting and expressed their opinion adding that their inputs will go a long way in helping the campaign.
It also expressed regret over the fact that not all could be given enough time to speak out their opinion and thoughts.
