Principal in-charge of NB College threatens legal action

Principal in-charge of Naorem Birahari College (NB College) has appealed the people to be wary of individuals who are trying to hamper the normal functioning of the college.
Dr Irom Kunjabati, Principal in-charge of Naorem Birahari College, Khundrakpam, said this at a press conference held at the college campus today and added that the academic atmosphere in the college had been greatly affected by the internal conflict between the Governing Body (GB) of the college and the faculty members of the college.
She added that following the issues in the college, the Department of Higher and Technical Education had issued an order on September 29, 2021 to dissolve the GB of Naorem Birahari College and the grant-in aid for the college was also discontinued.
However another order passed by the same department on November 27, 2021 constituted a caretaker GB and the grant-in aid for the college was restored.
University and Higher Education senior administrative officer Thangboi Gangte; senior finance officer Ronal Naorem and principal in-charge of NB College were the ex-officio members of the caretaker GB so constituted, she told the media.
The caretaker GB is supposed to discharge its duty till a new GB was formed and thus with the intervention of the Government, the issues at the college were resolved, she added.
Dr Irom Kunjabati told the media that it was very unfortunate that chairman of the dissolved GB, L Kamal and secretary N Thoiba had filed a complaint against her at the Department of Higher and Technical Education alleging her involvement in irregular appointment and financial mismanagement.
Similar complaints were also filed at the Department by Ningombam Shitaljit, a teacher of the college who is currently on suspension.
She added that she had taken charge of principal in-charge from former principal in-charge Dr Ng Ekashini on January 1.Dr Ng Ekashini was the principal in-charge between November 29 and December 31 .
She also said the above-mentioned three individuals who have filed the complaints should produce concrete evidence supporting their allegation within the next three days and if they failed to do so, legal action will be taken up against them.
