Cultural festival at Ukhrul North Indian traditional dances charm day 2

Traditional north Indian dances like Thadiya, Panthu Nritya, Sambalpuri, Dalkhai were staged by troupes of Nagpur, Allahabad, Kolkatta etc and fascinated the public on day 2 of the cultural festival held at Nungbi village ground today.
Headman of Nungbi village Shaingam opened the cultural festival in the presence of SDO, Chingai HL Jain and Deputy Director NEZCC D Vashum at Nungbi village ground.
The village headman expressed gratitude to the NEZCC for selecting Nungbi village as the venue for the second day of the cultural exposition programme.
Even though Nungbi is far from the district headquarters, more than 120 artistes from different States of the country are in the village to exhibit their talents and the varied traditional culture to promote the feeling of oneness.
Villagers from Nungbi Khullen, Marem, Lunghar thronged to Nungbi village ground today at around 11 am and vibrant displays of Thangta, bamboo dance and Tangkhul traditional folk dances mesmerised the crowd.
In a brief interaction with some of the village elders and youths on the sideline of the cultural exchange programme.
Village elders and youth expressed their joy on watching the colourful dresses, the traditional dances and songs from other communities for the first time.
It is a wonderful cultural exchange programme, they said.
The guest artistes were also equally awed by the local made earthen pots.
