Imphal, September 22 2013:
The Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF) surrendered to the State Govt and accordingly the home coning ceremony was held on September, 9 , 2013 at 1st Bn.
Manipur Rifles, Imphal.
Although the previous press statements of KNLF were contrary to their recent surrender ceremony, UKLF expressed its happiness over their joining the peace process.
However, their present action of threatening social leaders of Chandel district like Kuki Peoples' Forum (KPF), Kuki Students' Organization (KSO), Kuki Chief Association (KCA), Kuki Women Human Rights (KWHR) and Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) opens a big question to their acceptance of peace term, the UKLF alleged in a press release issued by its information and publicity secretary JM Thadou.
Appealing to the KNLF leadership to stop threatening and harassing public immediately, the UKLF categorically stated that they would not remain a silent spectator.
"The UKLF believes that revolutionary groups are formed for the cause of the people and, hence, we shall be compelled to take up any step to protect and safeguard the public and restore peaceful atmosphere which is our primary duty", it conveyed.
It also appealed to the State Govt (Home Dept) to look into the matter and do the needful before things go out of hands.
"We, the UKLF is for the public and if our people are harassed, tortured and threatened, we shall take up any possible means including carrying out operation against the KNLF and their families, if necessary, to protect and safeguard the people in our area", it added.
