Proposal for privatising Hotel Imphal

Imphal, June 22 2011: Along with discussing the proposal of privatising Hotel Imphal, which is under the Tourism Department, to ensure proper functioning, the State Government has set up a committee headed by the Chief Secretary as the chairman to look into the matter.

According to an official source, the move for privatising the only 3-star hotel under the Government of Manipur has been made to ensure its proper functioning and the committee headed by Chief Secretary as the chairman would see and decide who would be entrusted to run the hotel.

It may be noted that most of the public undertakings under the Government of Manipur have been abolished following recurring losses.

The existing 14 undertakings too have not been able to find a foothold in the stock exchange market.
