State level SSA workshop held

A one-day State level workshop on 'implementation of Shiksha Ka Haq Abhiyan', a campaign on RTE was held at Classic Hotel today with Education Minister m Okendro Singh and SSA State Project Director Sumant Singh gracing the inaugural session as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Okendro highlighted that effective implementation and reaping benefits of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan project depends very much on the role of the Deputy Commissioners concerned.
Stating that the DCs need to make field trips on a regular basis to ensure purposeful implementation of SSA programmes, he conveyed that the Government of India is determined to benefit the future pillars of the society by eradicating flaws in the education system and effective implementation of Right to Education Act.

As a part of improving the education system in the State 1900 teachers have been recently appointed to plug the problem of teachers' shortage, he noted that today's workshop was specifically organised to familiarise the teachers with the basics of teaching.
Soliciting positive suggestions from scholars and educationists to make Manipur a centre of excellence in the field of education, the Minister also sought the support of all concerned in the Department's endeavour to bring about positive change in the education scenario.
Sumant Singh, in his address, said that as teachers have to enact their role in moulding the futures of the society, training programmes and workshops should not be ignored for updating their knowledge.
Moreover, new ideas on techniques of teaching could be gained from such programmes, he mentioned.
During the technical session held in the afternoon, resource persons deliberated on topics related to selection of volunteers, training of volunteers, mode of publicity, organise visit of volunteers, preparing questionnaire and training module.
