Imphal, January 21 2020:
The Alliance for Socialist Unity (ASUK), Kangleipak has categorically stated that there was not an iota of truth in what MP Dr RK Ranjan stated at the prize distribution ceremony of Eastern Star Higher Secondary School, Khangabok held on January 19.A statement issued by ASUK Chairman N Oken remarked that RK Ranjan's statements only exposed that he is a deceitful man who can even challenge the truth just to win goodwill of his 'masters'.
Even as Dr Ranjan was advising students and educational institutes to groom students to be responsible citizens, he did not speak a single word about the role of politicians, and it was an indisputable example of shirking responsibilities by the Government and politicians, Oken asserted.
The alien rule and people like RK Ranjan should be held accountable for 99 per cent of the contemporary social ills and problems, he said.
Dr Ranjan was saying that failure on the part of parents to look after and discipline their children properly was responsible for abusing drugs by youth, birth of insurgents and agitation by students/youth on streets.
There is not a single element of truth in his statement.
The drug menace, insurgency and public agitation are all serious social and political issues and all these issues were created by the alien rule and politicians, said the ASUK Chairman.
The issue of drug abuse or addiction is a global issue and if Dr Ranjan was saying that it is a consequence of the failure of parents to look after their children properly, then he has very limited knowledge about this global issue, Oken said.
RK Ranjan's assumption and claim that failure of parents to look after their children gave rise to insurgency movement is more insulting than the Government of India's claim that the insurgency movement of Manipur is a movement of misguided youth.
Dr Ranjan was berating all parents including deceased ones but he should keep in mind that the revolutionary movement is a continuation of the armed movement launched by Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, Oken asserted.
In the course of the revolutionary movement, thousands have been killed and thousands were imprisoned.
Among the living revolutionaries, there are many who are older or contemporary of Dr Ranjan.
The MP exposed his sheer arrogance when he scolded the parents of these senior revolutionaries for not properly grooming their children.
But Dr Ranjan should understand that the ongoing liberation movement is a political issue, read the Chairman's statement.
The fact that the revolutionary movement has been going on for the past 70 years testifies that the movement is not a movement of some misguided youth or children who were not properly disciplined by their parents, it continued.
Dr Ranjan needs to ensure that he does not lose his mind because of his new status of being a Member of the Indian Parliament, Oken said.
Dr Ranjan's claim that youth would not come out and agitate on streets if they are properly disciplined by parents is also totally wrong.
Youth come out to streets and stage agitation only when the Government commits wrongs or does not fulfil what is expected of them.
The youth came out on the streets and demanded ILPS only when it became clear that all the indigenous people were facing serious threat of extinction.
Likewise, the youth protested against CAB as they came to know that the Government of India would pass it somehow, Oken said.
Students and teachers of Manipur University staged agitation for almost five months against the wrongdoings of the then VC, the ASUK Chairman pointed out and asked whether the teachers of MU were staging protests for such a long period because their parents did not properly discipline them.
Even now, the BJP-led Government is inviting public agitation by way of not defining the indigenous people and permanent residents in the Manipur ILP Guidelines, Oken pointed out.
The ASUK Chairman then asserted that Dr Ranjan ought to come out with a clarification and he must tender an apology to the public if he cannot justify his statements.
