Minor scuffle breaks out over disputed site

Imphal, May 20 2018:
A minor scuffle broke out between two groups over the construction of a waiting shed near a disputed site at Telipati Ahong Pung, under Porompat PS, today morning.
According to information received from the spot, one of the groups went to Telipati Ahong Pung to inspect the site for the construction of the waiting shed and began piling up soil and rocks at around 7 am today.
However, those staying in the area opposed the piling of soil for the construction of the waiting shed and alleged that the said land is a disputed site and a case was still in Court.
They also claimed that 144 CrPC was imposed in the area by an order of the Court ever since.
On the other hand, those who came for the construction of the waiting shed insisted that the area is beyond the disputed site and a heated argument broke out leading to a minor scuffle between the two sides.
Soon after the incident, a team of Porompat PS rushed to the spot to control the situation.
The local MLA also arrived at the spot and held a talk with both the arguing groups after assessing the situation, for bringing normalcy in the area.
However, at around noon, both the group began accusing one another of assaulting the other.
On the other hand, people residing in and around Telipati area came out on the streets and tried to block the road but police personnel dispersed them.
A large number of police personnel were deployed to prevent any kind of unwanted incident between the two groups.
DIG Manipur Police, K Jayenta also arrived at the spot and urged the people residing in the nearby area to maintain peace and harmony.
Above the deployment of State police.personnel, a platoon of 109 CRPF was also deployed in the area.
