Imphal, March 20 2015 : All Manipur Muslim Students' Union (AMMSU) president Syed Nawaj Khan (22) s/o Md Chaoba was stabbed by some unidentified persons with a pointed weapon this evening.

The unidentified assailants called out Syed Nawaj Khan from his Kshetri Mayai Leikai residence, Imphal East district under Porompat police station and assaulted him near his home.

Nawaj sustained injuries on the left eyebrow and forehead and he has been taken to JNIMS.

He is said to be out of danger, informed a source.

According to Nawaj, the assailants included Md Bala (40), Md Riya (22) and Md Hafiz (26), all belonging to Kshetri Bengoon.

He speculated that the attack was related with a press release issued by AMMSU in favour of students who have been denied the opportunity to sit for CBSE's Class X and Class XII exams.

Condemning the attack in the strongest term, the AMMSU general secretary appealed to all concerned to resolve all issues pertaining to the CBSE students through dialogue in peaceful manner.
