AR troops confront NSCN (IM) cadres at Senapati : CSOs intervene to defuse tension

Senapati, February 20 2020:
Tension followed by acknowledgment ran large over Senapati town as jawans of 34 Assam Rifles and NSCN-IM cadres came to blows before civil society organisations intervened and defused the issue mutually.
Much to the relief and deep appreciation of the public for the wisdom and quick response of the NPO, SDSA and SDWA, the sensitive and tense situation was defused.
According to sources, a team of 34 Assam Rifles Senapati company came across a marked cadre of NSCN-IM at Senapati town leading to a hot pursuit resulting in a face off between the two groups.
A physical confrontation between the two groups resulting in NSCN-IM cadres taking cover with an AK- 47 Rifle for a brief period.
However, immediate response and call of the frontal organizations including NPO, SDSA and SDWA defused the situation in which the AK-47 Rifle was swiftly returned through the office of NPO.
Both the parties mutually agreed to scale down their stand and respect the peaceful environment.
Many hailed the intervention of the frontal organizations NPO, SDSA and SDWA.
