National Seminar, Workshop conducted

A Two-Day National Seminar on "Politics and Development Challenges: Emerging Issues in North East India" began today at VC Court Hall, Manipur University, Canchipur.
The seminar was organised by the Department of Political Science, Manipur University in collaboration with United College, Chandel.
The inaugural function was graced by Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, MU; Prof Th Purnima Devi, Dean, School of Social Sciences, MU and Prof Nameirakpam Bijen Meetei, Head, Department of Political Science, MU as presidium members.
Prof Akhul Ranjan Dutta of Department of Political Science, Gauhati University also attended the seminar as keynote speaker.
The first day of the seminar included two technical sessions wherein experts/ dignitaries shared valuable insights on different topics.
Meanwhile, the inaugural function of "3rd Series One Week Workshop on Data Analysis using Excel and SPSS" was held today at the Conference Hall, Department of Commerce, Manipur University.
The workshop was organised by the Department of Statistics, Manipur University.
It was attended by Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam, Dean, School of Mathematical & Physical Sciences, MU; Prof Salam Opendra Singh, Head, Department of Statistics, MU and Prof N Lokendra Singh as presidium members.
The function began with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp followed by offering of floral tribute to a photograph of Late Prof BM Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Salam Shantikumar Singh, convenor of the workshop, said that statistics are, essential in research as they help researchers analyze data, draw conclusions, and justify their findings.
He shared that students from different Departments of the varsity are participating in the workshop which will focus on data analysis using Excel and SPSS .
