Th Jadumani released on bail

Imphal, September 19 2015 : BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president Th Jadumani has been released on bail with a surety bond of Rs 30,000 by the Court today.

Th Jadumani (65) s/o (L) Th Panchai of Khangabok Mayai Leikai was produced before the CJM Imphal West Court under FIR number 258 (9) 2015 of Imphal police station under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 307 (attempt to murder), Section 420 (offences relating to cheating and dishonesty inducing delivery of property), Section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and Section 34 (common intention) and Section 24 (Arms Act) .

During today's Court proceedings, defence lawyer stated that Th Jadumani borrowed some money from the complainant some time back but he could return it within the assured time due to some financial problems.

However, Jadumani had returned the money to the complainant on the day he was arrested by the police, the defence lawyer said.

Saying that Jadumani is an innocent citizen of the State and he has no criminal record, the defence lawyer pleaded the Court to release his client on bail.

He also said that Jadumani is an asthma patient and he is undergoing treatment at Shija hospital.

As the prosecution failed to produce sufficient witnesses and documents that support the allegation levelled against Jadumani, the Court passed an order to release him on bail with a surety bond of Rs 30,000 .

The Court also directed Jadumani not to abscond or intimidate prosecution witnesses to hamper investigation and also asked not to leave the State without prior permission from the Court.

The Court also directed Jadumani to be present at the Court on October 3 .

It may be mentioned that Th Jadumani was arrested by a team of Imphal police station from his residence at around 6 am on September 17 after one Dealuek Irengbam w/o L Anilkumar filed a written complaint at the police station.

The complaint said that Jadumani borrowed Rs 2 lakhs from her on April 2 , 2015 promising her that the amount would be returned on April 5 .

It further said that Dealuek, her husband and her mother met Jadumani at the gate of BJP office, Nityaipat Chuthek on April 18, 2015 .

When she asked Jadumani to return her money, he not only allegedly assaulted her and her husband but also threatened to kill them by showing a pistol.
