Imphal, December 18 2012:
Led by Purnima Marup, youth and women organisations of Kangla Sangomsang have expressed strong opposition against the reported move to reinstate one Laishram Yaiskul Singh of Khurai Chaithabi Leirak as the principal of Leishemba Maheikol Kangla, Chingarel.
Speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club today on behalf of Kangla Sangomsang organisations, Purnima Marup secretary Wangkheirakpam Ramachandra stated that Yaiskul Singh, currently staying put at the Leishemba Maheikol (educational institution) campus, was ostracised by the locals for his alleged attempt to rape a girl student on January 19, 2012 and consequently removed as principal of the school.
While the locals' decision to banish him from the school would remain in force till December 31, this year there are reports that the parents' and students' transport operators are trying to reinstate the tainted individual as the head of the institution, said the secretary while adding that Yaiskul's banishment also had the approval of student organisations.
Asserting that reinstatement of Yaiskul will not be acceptable to the Kangla Sangomsang locals, he maintained that in case Yaiskul returns the school would be uprooted from its present location.
Two other individuals namely Thongam Iboyaima of Khurai Thongam Leikai and Lourembam Ibohanbi of Kangla Siphai, who are also members of the school's governing body since its establishment along with Yaiskul, also attended the media briefing.
