IGNTU students to continue stir

Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Students' Welfare (IGNTUSW) has said that it will continue its agitation as the authority concerned has failed to fulfil its demands within October 17 .
According to a press release of the union, the students of IGNTU-RCM has been democratically drawing attention of the University authority to solve their grievances since September 3 last.
However, University authority remained unmoved even after more than a month long agitation.
During a meeting held on October 4 at Hotel Classic with the University represented Professor, it was officially agreed that all the internal matters would be resolved as soon as possible and communicated to the students' body in written format on or before October 17, it said.
The points of agreement were setting of questions for semester examination be done by the Regional Campus, providing of vehicle for students' transportation on hire basis, providing of library, class rooms, computer lab with internet facility, nomination of representatives from the RCM to the University's Executive Council, Academic Council and Selection Committee, immediate shifting of RCM to its permanent site at Makhan, immediate appointment of Regional Director, ordinance for RCM, rectification of MPhil 1st batch result with internal assessment marks and correction of Roll Nos and opening of PhD course etc.
The students also agreed to call off their agitation if the demands are fulfilled within October 17 and was even prepared to sit for their 2nd semester exam.
However, the authority concerned has failed to keep its promise, IGNTUSW said.
It also appealed all the tribals of Manipur to extend cooperation to the cause of the students of the University.
