10 hand grenades, RPG shell recovered

Altogether ten hand grenades and one RPG shell have been recovered from different places in the past 24 hours.
As almost all the water of the southern section of Kangla moat has been drained out, six hand grenades were found in the middle of the moat opposite to Raj Bhavan at around 12.30 pm yesterday.
Notably, the same section of Kangla moat is being drained out using water pump-sets for renovation ahead of the annual Sangai festival.
A bomb disposal squad of Manipur Police picked up and set off the grenades safely at a garbage dumping site of Lamphelpat at around 1.30 pm.
All the six hand grenades were said to be made in India.
All of them were rusted and their levers/pins were missing.
Nonetheless a case has been registered at Imphal police station.
On the other hand, troops of 45 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (S) recovered many bombs from near the iron bridge located at Koirengei on NH-2 at around 4.30 am today.
The explosives included an old and rusted bomb weighing around 5 kg with industrial detonator, one old and rusted Chinese hand grenade and three No-36 hand grenades, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S).
A bomb disposal squad of Manipur Police picked up and set off the explosives safely at Pangei firing range at around 9.30 am.
Out of the four hand grenades, three were manufactured in India while the fourth was made in China.
All the four hand grenades as well as the RPG shell were rusted.
