Imphal, May 18 2016:
People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has urged the leaders and individuals who have come forward to serve the people of Kangleipak to take decisions seriously considering the future of Kangleipak.
In a statement, publicity and propaganda assistant secretary of the outfit, Leibak Ngakpa Luwang drew the attention of people to the news of non inclusion of Meitei/Meetei script in the Indian currency notes.
Leibak Ngakpa in a statement said that Manipuri Language Development Committee president Leihaothabam Saratchandra had informed the public through a press release that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had written to MP Dr T Meinya that Meitei/Meetei Mayek would not be printed on Indian currency notes.
However, people must understand that inclusion of Meitei/Meetei script on Indian currency notes would give an impact to the people of Kangleipak who have been safeguarding its indigenous nature.
On the other hand, the Government of India has shown its true 'colonial nature' on many occasions, Leibak Ngakpa said.
Saying that the people of Kangleipak have a written history of 2000 years of sovereignty, Leibak Ngakpa said that after Kangleipak was 'forcefully annexed' to the Indian Union, the Government of India has been suppressing the voice and violating the basic rights of the people of Kangleipak, he alleged.
It shows that the Government of India wishes to completely annihilate the culture and civilization of the people of Kangleipak, Leibak Ngakpa said.
Saying that it is part of GoI's ploy for forced assimilation of Kangleipak people to the Indian culture, Leibak Ngakpa said that the people must understand this move and remain alert so that they may protect their culture and identity.
