Jayantakumar wishes State theatre Olympians

Art & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar Singh has wished good luck to the participants of the 8th Theatre Olympic India, 2018 in a function held at the conference hall of the Art & Culture Department at Palace Compound.
Speaking as chief guest, Jayantakumar said that it is indeed a moment of pride for the State since nine theatre units from the State are participating in the extravaganza event of theatre Olympic, 2018 which is being hosted in India.
He said that occupying a place in such International events is also a precious moment of the Art & Culture Department, Government of Manipur.
The Minister also highlighted the opportunities available in the State to host National and International events.

There were instances where the State was invited for hosting big theatre events.
Financial handicapped of the State is one of the major obstacles to organise such events, he added.
He asserted that the Government is trying its best to uplift the art and cultural activities of the State.
Referring to the Suri International Cultural Festival, Thailand, 2018 in which Manipur was named 'The Best Performer' and 'Most Outstanding Cultural Troupe', Jayantakumar expressed hope that the theatre troupes from the State, who are participating in the 8th Theatre Olympic India, 2018 will bring laurel to the land.
The ceremony was also attended by Commissioner Art & Culture, M Luxmikumar Singh, as president.
Several renowned theatre personalities and artists from many theatre groups of the State were also present at the function.
As a mark of honour and encouragement, Minister Jayantakumar presented shawls to the theatre personalities.
The Theatre Olympics, 2018 India started from yesterday.
