2 UGs killed in 48 hours

Imphal, September 17 2012:
Security personnel have reportedly killed two underground activists in the last 48 hours in different alleged encounters that took place in different parts of the state.
Arms and ammunitions have also been reportedly seized from the possession of the slain UG cadres.
According to police report, one UG cadre was gunned down by a team of Imphal East District Police Commandos during an encounter which took place at Kharasom near Yourbung under Lamlai Police Station at around 9 pm yesterday.
The police report said that acting on specific information that armed UG cadres are loitering around at Kharashom area, a team of Imphal East District Police Commandos rushed in to the spot and spread around the area.
At that point of time, a person came along on a Kinetic Honda (Zoom).
When the police commandos asked the approaching person to halt for verification, he started opening fire towards the commandos and tried to escape.
The commandos instantly reacted with a volley of shots and killed the person on the spot.
The police commandos later recovered one 9mm pistol, 3 live rounds, 1 empty case, 1 hand grenade and a grey Kinetic Honda (Zoom) with registration number MN01S/1991 .
Though the identity of the slain UG cadre has not been established, he is suspected to be a cadre of KCP.
The body has been picked up and kept at the mortuary of JNIMS.
In another alleged encounter, troops of 35 AR gunned down a suspected cadre of proscribed PREPAK at Khonmunlen village under Chandel district at around 5 pm on September 15 .
According to AR report, troops of 35 AR of 28 Sector under HQ, IGAR (S) launched a massive operation in Kholmunlen village following specific information on the movements of suspected PREPAK cadres.
On being challenged, suspected cadres of PREPAK started firing indiscriminately towards the AR troops to which the AR personnel also retaliated.
In the act, one UG cadre was killed.
The AR personnel later recovered one AK 47 with two magazines, 35 live rounds and 13 fired cartridges.
The body of the slain cadre has been deposited at the mortuary of JNIMS for identification.
