Sit in protest demanding to move a higher Court continues

Imphal, January 17 2021: Urging the Government to appeal the drug haul case of 2018 to a higher Court for retrial, a sit in protest was staged at Moirangkhunou Bazar in Bishnupur District today organised by Khunnai Kanba Lup.

Addressing the gathering, Hijam Priyokumar, president of CADA, stated that ongoing demand of the people to move the drug haul case of 2018 to a higher Court for retrial is not against any specific community.

In fact the public is urging the Government to strengthen the war on drugs in order to save the youth from the wrath of drugs as many have lost their lives due to drug abuse.

He further alleged that there is a high probability of serious lapses while filing the chargesheet and during, the trial of the drug haul Case of 2018 .

Therefore the Government should move the case to a higher Court for a fair trial and provide befitting punishments to those involved.

Voicing the same demands, another sit in protest was held at Heirok Part (I) Maning Leikai in Thoubal District yesterday by the volunteers of Ningol Club and CADA Thoubal district committee.
