Memorandum submitted

Committee Against the Imposition of Section 144 CrPc in Ukhrul, New Delhi (CAISCrPc) has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi demanding immediate revocation of Section 144 CrPc and withdrawal of IRB and police commando personnel from Ukhrul town.
Copies of the memorandum were also sent to offices of President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor VK Duggal, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur.
The representation also demanded for restoration of normal life and civil order in Ukhrul, respect the autonomy of free Naga customary laws, practices and other hill tribes as enshrined under Article 371C of the Indian Constitution and the Manipur Legislative Assembly (Hill Areas Committee) Order, 1972, dispensing fundamental justice to the people of Ukhrul town without communal and ethnic prejudice, curbing any communal feeling between the 'ruling-elitist' community and the Nagas and other hill tribes of the State, honoring the ceasefire agreement between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM), strengthening the peace dialogue between the Government of India and the Naga people for immediate resolution and immediate release of eight arrested persons.
The memorandum was jointly signed by CAISCrPc convenor, president of Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Delhi, Convener of Naga People's Movement for Human Rights, Convener of Forum for Understanding the Naga-India Conflict & Human Rights, Naga People Union for Civil Liberty and the president of Tangkhul Scholar Association.
