Imphal, February 16 2025: Imphal East Kishan Mela, 2025 was held on Friday at District Agriculture Complex, Imphal East on the theme, "Integrated Farming System: An approach towards livelihood improvementoffarmwomen& natural resource conservation" .

The mela was organised by Project Director, ATM A Imphal East, Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur.

The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including Khumanthem Diana, Deputy Commissioner Imphal East; Peter Salam, Director, Agriculture; K Debadutta Sharma, Director, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Manipur and Dr Y Prabhabati Devi, Senior Scientist & Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal East.

Speaking on the occasion, Khumanthem Diana said that the Kishan Mela is very significant for the farmers and they should take this opportunity to clear all their doubts about Government schemes, programmes and new agricultural technologies.

She stated that Integrated Farming System (IFS) is a sustainable agricultural system that combines various farming practices to maximize productivity and efficiency.

She mentioned that IFS helps to diversify income sources for farmers and reduces the risk of crop failure or price volatility.

Khumanthem Diana also encouraged farmers to adopt organic farming for healthy living and to boost their income at the same time.
