Imphal, July 15 2014: Meira Paibis of Khagempali Panthak and Pankha today came to street and blockaded Khagempali road demanding immediate repairing of the dilapidated road this evening.

Women protesters said that they were compelled to stage protest as the locality has witnessed road accidents on 12 different occasions one after another till date.

Speaking to reporters, the women protesters said that bad road condition, potholes and water logging in various places were the reasons of these mishaps.

She said that many heavy vehicles, which are plying on the road, have broken water pipes at various points on the road.

As such, residents are getting murky water due to pipe leakage, they said and added that damage of water pipes has given another woe in the form of water logging on the road.

Urging the Government to revamp the road at the earliest, the woman also cautioned that the road would be blockaded till their demand is fulfilled.
