Imphal, May 15, 2013: A powerful bomb, apparently targeted at a BSF patrol party, exploded at Heirok Part-I Heitupokpi in Thoubal district today around 4.50pm. No casualty has been reported though.

Police said the IED was exploded when a foot patrolling party of 116 Bn BSF posted at Wangjing passed through the area.

The incident occurred at an adjoining area of Wangjing and Heirok.

Personnel of Thoubal district police and additional team of BSF personnel rushed to the spot and launched a manhunt.

An explosive-like material was detected by BSF sniffer dogs about 50 metres away from the spot.

However, the same could not be confirmed till the time of filing this report.

The area is sanitised of human presence.
